Getting a job in this competitive world is a tricky business. When you search for a job, you are mostly lost and confused. There is always wondering about where to begin from. Today we are so technologically advanced that we are unsure which job site to pursue. Not only job sites, but many social media platforms advertise job vacancies like Facebook, SEEK, LinkedIn, Jora, Indeed, Naukri.com, Monster.inc.,Hirecut, newspapers, resume drops, and more.Amid this mayhem, we also have another job searching platform, “AGENCIES” What comes to your mind when you hear these words a “Recruitment agency” or an “Employment agency” in lay man’s world? These two words mean the same. Most educated people can also not differentiate between a “Recruitment Agency” and an “Employment agency”

When asked many answers that both the terms are the same, some do say they are different but can’t quite bifurcate them. So let me tell you both these terms sound a bit identical, but they are different, and to know how they are different, you can read below.

❖ SERVICE PROVIDED:

The service provided by both agencies is the most significant point of differentiation between them. A Recruitment Agency works for the recruiter, whereas an Employment agency works on the recruit’s behaviour. To simplify, the Recruitment agency is the one who receives the job specification and description from the employer and then finds a suitable recruit for them. Still, an Employment agency engages with the job seekers, and then they search for job positions that would be the perfect fit for them and recommend them to the companies.

Recruitment Agencies recruit the employee directly into the companies, while the Employment agencies promote the employee for employment in the company.

An Employment agency generally sets up a meeting or an interview of the individual with the company wherever they feel the candidate would fit in; hiring is dependent on the candidate’s performance. In comparison, a Recruitment agency looks for job opportunities for the candidate and schedules regular follow-ups to ensure they are still on the job. A Recruitment agency considers anyone who applies for the position, but an Employment agency considers only those who are fit. For example, if you are applying for a trainee job at a software company, the Employment type will recruit you. Then you’ll undergo training at companies headquarters for the same, and then, later on, you can apply for various positions in the company. In contrast, a Recruitment type will initially take your interview, test your skills, and then recruit you.

❖ SKILL REQUIREMENT

Skills are the fundamental pursuit of getting a job. Both these agencies work on different principles regarding recruitment based on skills possessed by the job seekers. A Recruitment type generally goes with the candidates that are skilful, which means those candidates with proper certifications, qualifications, or experience that are required for that particular role in the company. On the other hand, an Employment type focuses on getting employment to any person, whether they are skilled or not. An Employment agency provides recruitment facilities to those who do not possess advanced skills and those who are unskilled.

So if you are a well trained and experienced candidate, then a Recruitment is a place you must go, but if are a person with a zest to work but not qualification then you must seek an Employment agency.

❖ PAID OR UNPAID

The biggest question of all is, are the services free or paid? So let’s find out. In a way, both are paid services, but the difference is from where they are born. An Employment agency charges service fees from the job-seeking candidate for promoting the candidate to companies utilizing advertising, setting up meetings with the recruiters, and other expenses that the recruiting company enforces to shortlist the suitable candidate. Some employment agencies also provide resume development assistance as part of their service.

On the other hand, a Recruitment agency charges service fees from the recruiting companies. Recruitment agency people are the headhunters, so when the companies approach them with a specific requirement, they start their work and scrutinize candidates according to the company’s needs. So as the work is done for the recruiting company, the charges are addressed against them.

So in simple words, we can say that the job seekers pay the employment agencies to get jobs, and the companies pay the recruitment agencies to find a suitable person for the role.
